State Grid Reportedly Plans Stake Sale In Guotai Junan

State Grid Corp. of China intends to divest part of stake in Guotai Junan Securities Co. Ltd, the 21st Century Business Herald reported, citing unnamed sources. The report added that State Grid intends to raise around CNY 2 billion from the stake sale. According to the report, the company plans to divest about 200 million shares in Guotai Junan at CNY 10 a share on the Shanghai United Assets and Equity Exchange by the end of 2010. Sources stated that potential buyers of the stake would need registered capital of more than CNY 70 billion, among other "stringent" requirements.

State Grid Corporation of China has signed a strategic agreement with China Telecom Corp. Ltd. to cooperate in power grid and telecommunication areas. Pursuant to the agreement, the two companies will cooperate in infrastructure construction to jointly expand the optical fiber access to households, and build up the smart grid network. The access to optical fiber will enable users to make phone calls over Internet Protocol, surf the Internet and watch TV. The cooperation with China Telecom will enable State Grid to participate in the country's triple network project, which aims to converge the telecommunications, Internet and broadcast networks.
